Ambien, or zolpidem, is a sleep aid medication manufactured by Sanofi-Aventis. Ambien is used to treat insomnia, and slows brain activity to allow for better sleep. Prescription Ambien can cost up to $90 a month, depending on whether or not a patient has prescription drug insurance. Ambien Coupons and Patient Assistance Programs
Sanofi Aventis patient assistance programs do not currently cover Ambien, and the company is not offering any coupons to the general public. However, there is a possibility that physicians can provide free samples of Ambien, or have unadvertised coupons on hand. Even when these options are not available, there are a couple of ways to save on Ambien:
- Xubex pharmaceuticals sells Ambien at a discount through their patient assistance program. In order to get Ambien from Xubex, patients are required to fill out an application and then mail or fax it in. The program is open to patients of all income levels, and applicants may have prescription drug insurance, including Medicare. Xubex has their own website, or patients can call 866-699-8239 for more information.[3]
- Rx Outreach sells discount Ambien to patients who earn less than 300% of the federal poverty level, with or without insurance. Patients can download the application from the Rx Outreach website, or call 800-769-3880 to have it mailed.[3]

Ambien is contains the generic drug zolpidem, and is in a class of drugs called sedative hypnotics.[1] Ambien non-narcotic sleep medication is available by prescription only, and treats insomnia. Zolpidem can cause dependence, and those who quit suddenly may experience withdrawal symptoms.
