Armimidex Information
Arimidex is a breast cancer treatment drug that can be used by itself or alongside other treatments, including radiation and surgery. It is used to treat early breast cancer in post-menopausal women, as well as in breast cancer patients who have not responded to the drug tamoxifen. Arimidex is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor used to decrease the amount of estrogen made by the body. In turn, this can help slow down or stop the growth of breast cancer cells.[3]
About Arimidex Patient Assistance Programs
AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Arimidex, offers several ways for patients to save money through patient assistance programs. This includes patient support programs, prescription savings programs, and other assistance programs.
- AtraZenica offers a program called Arimidex Direct that allows patients to order the drug through the mail for $40 per monthly prescription. The program does not accept any type of insurance, and is available to those with or without prescription coverage. All patients who have been prescribed Arimidex are eligible for the program, and there are no coupons or discount cards used. The $40 price includes shipping of the medicine. The enrollment form for Arimidex Direct is available on the main Arimidex consumer website.[2]
- AstraZeneca also offers the AZ&Me Prescription Savings Program for people without insurance, or those with Medicare Part D. Arimidex is among the list of roughly 2 dozen medications covered by this program. The AZ&Me discount plan is only open to those who meet certain income requirements, and is intended to help those who would not otherwise be capable of affording their Arimidex.[4]
- AstraZeneca also provides help for cancer patients, including breast cancer patients who need to take Arimidex. The program is called AstraZeneca Cancer Support Network (AZCSN), and is open to those who do not have any prescription drug coverage and earn less than $30,000 per year as individuals, $40,000 for couples, $50,000 for families of three people or $60,000 for families of four people.[5]
