Asacol Patient Assistance Programs and Coupons
- Eligible patients can save with the Asacol HD Patient Savings card, good for discounts on Asacol delayed-release tablets. The card is available from doctors' offices, and certain restrictions apply/ Doctors can provide brochures and/or more detailed information on the plan.[3]
- Asacol used to offer a printable coupon on the official Asacol website, but it is no longer available. The coupon offered 60 free pills of the drug, but future deals may vary if any are available at all. Any similar deals will be posted on the site.[4]
- Proctor and Gamble Pharmaceuticals has a patient assistance program that helps cover the cost of Asacol for eligible patients. Under the program, up to three 90-day supplies of the drug may be given away for free to those who fall below certain income levels and meet other requirements.[5]
- Patients willing to try different brands of melasamine can get free Apriso extended-release tablets from the Xubex Free Medication Program by Xubex Pharmaceuticals. Asacol reduces the number of bowel movements, and studies report that most patients need to use the restroom less after three weeks of Asacol therapy.[1] Once the ulcerative colitis has been treated, Asacol may be continued for maintenance and the prevention of a recurrence. Symptoms of ulcerative colitis can include bleeding of the rectum, abdominal pain and the urgent need to relieve oneself. Those who are allergic to aspirin or other salicylates are directed not take Asacol.[4]
