Jump to: navigation, search

Aspirin (cetylsalicylic acid) is an over-the-counter drug used to reduce fever, inflammation, and swelling. It can help relieve headache, muscle and joint pain. Aspirin can also reduce the risk of blood clots or strokes in some patients, and is available in some prescription drugs.[1]

Coupons for prescription aspirin products may be available from your doctor as well as from pharmaceutical companies. Printable aspirin coupons can also be found online on third-party coupon sites as well as directly from manufacturers. Most coupons are for a specific brand name; however, in some cases it will be cheaper to buy generic aspirin, even if a brand-name coupon is available.

About Aspirin

According to Bayer, salicin, a chemical similar to aspirin, was used by Hippocrates as early as 400BC.[2] German chemists created salicylic acid from salicin in the mid-nineteenth century.[5] Bayer maintains that they invented aspirin in 1897, two years before they brought it to market.[2]

While aspirin is commonly used to treat pain, fever, and inflammation, it is also known to impede the blood's clotting ability. A low-dose aspirin regimen is often prescribed to patients at risk of heart attacks and certain kinds of strokes. Bayer is also researching the use of aspirin in cancer treatment.[6] [7]

Although Bayer Aspirin is the oldest aspirin brand, aspirin is also available in many generic forms and under other brand names such as Ascriptin, Bufferin, Cama, Easprin, Ecotrin, and Empirin.[8]
