Avastin Coupons
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
Avastin is the brand name of bevacizumab Injection, a cancer drug approved by the FDA in 2004. Avastin is typically used to treat metastatic (spreading) or later-stage cancers. Avastin coupons can help many patients with the cost of this pricy drug. Most savings opportunities come from patient assistance programs, available through Genentech and other sources.
Used in conjunction with other chemotherapy drugs, Avastin is an anti-angiogenic medication, a form of therapy that starves the tumor by cutting off its blood supply.[1]
Types of cancers treated with Avastin include metastatic colo-rectal cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, adult glioblastoma (a form of brain tumor), and metastatic kidney cancer.[2] The safety and effectiveness of Avastin has not been determined for patients under the age of 18, so the drug has not been approved for pediatric use.[2]

About Avastin
Avastin is not chemotherapy, but is often used along with it. Cancer chemotherapy is the term used to describe drugs that attack fast-growing cells, like cancer cells. Avastin is different because it prevents the growth of new blood vessels that would feed the tumor.[2]
Avastin is not a drug that patients pick up at their local pharmacy; the medication is administered by intravenous infusion taking place over an hour or more at a health care facility.
