Caltrate is a calcium supplement that uses calcium carbonate as its source. Caltrate maintains that its products offers 20% more calcium per tablet than other leading brands. Since calcium carbonate is the most concentrated form of calcium, only two tablets are needed per day to get the recommended amount of calcium for adults age 51 and over, as stated by the Institute of Medicine.[4] There are six different Caltrate formulas:[5]
