Clomid is used to treat infertility by stimulating the ovaries and increasing the frequency of ovulation. It may also be used for infertility in men, or to treat menstrual issues, overproduction of breast milk or fibrocystic breasts.[1] This drug contains the active ingredient clomiphene, which is also the main ingredient in Serophene. The 50mg Clomid tablet is taken once each day for five days of the menstrual cycle. Potential Clomid side effects include hot flashes, breast pain, and vision changes.[2]

About Clomid
Clomid is a fertility medication that is usually prescribed to women with ovarian disorders, although it may also be used for male infertility or other reproductive issues with women. The drug helps the ovaries produce eggs and helps the body make the hormones necessary for a healthy pregnancy. Clomid is classified as an ovulatory stimulant, and performs similar actions as the hormone estrogen.
Side effects of Clomid can include flushes of warmth, nausea and vomiting, breast pain, headache and spotting blood. Patients who experience more serious side effects like abdominal pain, altered vision, weight gain and difficulty breathing are advised to get medical help.[1]
Clomid Coupons and Patient Assistance Programs
Coupons for Clomid are not typically available posted online by the Sanofi Aventis; however, patients still may be able to save by using drug discount cards:
- The MedSaver Card covers Clomid, just as it does all FDA-approved prescription drugs. Typical savings are between 5 and 80% off of the regular retail price. The patient's pharmacist will be able to determine the discount for Clomid. There is no charge to access and print the MedSaver card.[4]
- The RxHope Savings Card covers 50mg tablets of clomiphene, and can save consumers an average of 17% when used at participating pharmacies. The card is free to print, and may be used at dozens of pharmacies including CVS, Walgreens, CostCo Pharmacy, Rite Aid, and Walmart.[5]
Sanofi-Aventis has patient assistance programs available to provide discounts to patients who meet income requirements and other factors. Clomid is not currently among the list of covered medications. However, the drug list can change and it is possible that Clomid will be available for free or at a reduced cost through manufacturer's programs in the future.[6]

Becoming Pregnant
In order to maximize the chances of becoming pregnant, experts recommend that women keep track of their monthly cycle. This is because there are only a few days out of the month when females are able to conceive. Having sex daily during ovulation, which typically occurs mid-cycle, will boost chances of pregnancy. In addition, the more often couples have sex throughout the month, the better the odds of conception. It is generally not the case that the male will "waste" too much sperm by ejaculating too often.[7]
