Crestor Information
Crestor is a prescription approved by the FDA to treat high cholesterol. The drug is manufactured by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. Crestor is usually prescribed as part of a long-term treatment plan that also involves changes in a patient's diet.[4] Patients taking Crestor may experience possible side effects. Although side effects are usually infrequent, the most common include:[5]

Crestor Patient Assistance Programs
Patients interested in saving money through patient assistance programs may be eligible for free or discounted Crestor through one of AstraZeneca's patient assistance programs. The AZ&Me Prescription Savings Programs are available for those without insurance or for people who have Medicare Part D. To determine eligibility, patients may go to the official AstraZeneca website to download an application, or call 1-800-AZandMe (292-6363). Patients will need to download and print out the application. Then, patients will need to fill out the application with the help of their doctor and send it back to AstraZeneca to determine acceptance into the program.[3]
Patients without insurance who qualify for the program will receive their medication free for up to a year. To qualify, patients must:[3]
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Not have prescription drug coverage from a private insurance or any other coverages that include, but are not limited to military or VA benefits, Medicaid, Medicare Part A, B, and D
- Meet the following income requirements:
- Single individual: $30,000 or less
- Couple: $40,000 or less
- Family of three: $50,000 or less
- Family of four: $60,000 or less
- Family of five: $70,000 or less
Patients with Medicare Part D who are unable to afford their Crestor medication may also be eligible to receive their medicine free for up to a year. Eligible patients must:[6]
- Be enrolled in Medicare Part D
- Have an income of $30,000 or less for individuals or $40,000 or less for a couple
- Live in a household that has spent 3% or more of its total income on prescription medication in the last year
Patients may request Crestor refill, re-enroll, verify enrollment and view prescription shipments online once they have been approved for the program.
