Diovan Background
Diovan is a the brand name for valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to keep the blood vessels from narrowing, which in turn improves blood flow and lowers blood pressure. The drug is used to treat hypertension and reduce the risk of death after patients have suffered a heart attack.[1]
Diovan is manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, and was approved for use by the FDA in 1996. Patients taking Diovan may experience side effects.
