About Drug Side Effects
Diovan Allergic Reactions
It is possible for some patients to experience allergic reactions to valsartan, which is the active ingredient of Diovan, or to any of the inactive ingredients that are present in the tablets. Diovan Precautions and Warnings
- Fetuses of women who take Diovan during the final six months of their pregnancy may be severely injured, or may die. Therefore, pregnant women are advised not to take Diovan, and women who conceive while on Diovan are instructed to discontinue use at once.[2]
- Patients taking Diovan may experience dizziness or lightheadedness when standing up rapidly from a resting position. In some instances, getting up too quickly can make Diovan users pass out. Patients can help prevent this from happening by taking it slow when rising, and letting the feet sit on the floor for a while before finally standing up from bed.[2]
- Patients with a condition called anuria, which is characterized by little or no urine, are advised not to take Diovan.[1]
