Effexor® XR patient assistance programs provide eligible patients with financial assistance for their Effexor® XR prescriptions. Patients can receive free or discounted Effexor® XR for up to a year if they do not have prescription drug coverage and live in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. Some programs also require patients meet specific income requirements. Effexor® coupons and drug savings cards can also help patients afford their Effexor® prescriptions by reducing co-pay amounts or discounting the price of the medication.
Effexor® XR is an antidepressant used to treat clinical depression, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder (PD) and social anxiety disorder (SAD). It is a brand name for venlafaxine HCl, and is made by Pfizer Inc.

Effexor XR Patient Assistance Programs
Pfizer Connection to Care, a Pfizer patient assistance program, offers free Effexor® XR to patients who do not have insurance to cover the medication. The exception to this rule is Medicare Part D, and some insured patients may be able to claim financial hardship and still receive assistance. All patients must not earn above 200% of the federal poverty level. The program phone number is 866-706-2400, and patients may access the application on the program website.
Pfizer Friends offers qualified patients discounts on their Effexor® XR prescriptions. To qualify, patients must live in the U.S., Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virigin Islands, and cannot have prescription drug coverage. Applications can be downloaded from the official Pfizer Friends website, or by calling 866-706-2400.
The Effexor® $4 Co-Pay Commitment Card is offered directly on the Effexor® XR website. The card covers up to $75 of an Effexor® XR co-pay or out-of pocket expense, requiring users to pay a minimum of $4 for each prescription refill. The card is only valid at participating pharmacies, and is not available to patients whose medication costs are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or other government programs, or to residents of Massachusetts.
"Pfizer Maintain" provides assistance to patients who are unemployed and uninsured and who were taking covered medications, including Effexor® XR, for at least three months prior to unemployment. The program can provide free medication for the period during which patients remain unemployed and/or uninsured, for up to a year. Patients can apply for Pfizer Maintain benefits on the program's website.

About Effexor XR
Effexor® XR is the brand name for venlafaxine, a prescription antidepressant medication manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, Inc. It is used to treat the symptoms of depression, and anxiety disorders such as panic disorder (PD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and social anxiety disorder (SAD). The drug may also be used to treat hot flashes in menopausal women.
Common side effects of Effexor® XR include trouble sleeping, reduced appetite, upset stomach, constipation, perspiration, tiredness, nervousness and sexual side effects.
There is a chance that patients taking Effexor® or Effexor® XR may become suicidal as a result of the drug. This has been most common among teenagers and young adults under the age of 24, but it may occur with users of any age.
