Exelon Patch Free Samples
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
The Exelon Patch contains rivastigmine, and is prescribed to patients who have mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The drug also treats mild to moderate dementia in patients who have Parkinson's disease. Patients or their caregivers apply the Exelon Patch once a day. The patch then releases medication continuously for 24 hours to help with the patient's cognition.[1]
Free samples of the Exelon Patch are available to all new Exelon patients, regardless of insurance status or income. The manufacturer, Novartis, offers a 30-day supply of the drug via a printable coupon. This allows patients to try the transdermal system for a full month before deciding to continue treatment.[2]

Exelon Patch Background
Exelon was approved by the FDA in April of 2000. The active ingredient is a acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which affects substances in the brain to improve clarity of thought.[4] The Exelon Patch was approved in 2007, after studies showed that the patch provided a less fluctuating, more continuous delivery of rivastigmine than the oral Exelon pill.[3] [5]
The Exelon Patch is applied one time per day, directly to the skin. Patients and their caregivers are instructed to use it on clean skin in areas that do not have excessive hair. Chest, upper arms, and back are common choices. A different spot should be used each day to minimize skin irritation, and the patch is not to be used on broken skin or rashes.[6]
How to Get Exelon Patch Samples
The manufacturer of the Exelon Patch, Novartis, has a special program that offers a 30-day free trial. Patients or caregivers may go to the Exelon Patch website and print out a voucher. Unlike some other printable coupons, there is no need to fill out any forms or answer any questions before printing the coupon.
Each patient (or their caregiver) is only allowed to use the coupon one time. A prescription for the Exelon Patch, provided by a health care professional, is required to use the coupon. The 30-day sample voucher may be redeemed at the pharmacy.[2] Once the patient has used the month's supply and decides to start using the Exelon Patch regularly, the Novartis Patient Assistance Foundation Program may be able to provide continued savings upon eligibility.
