Common Fluvirin Side Effects
Every drug on the market comes with the risk of side effects. This is true of both prescription and over the counter drugs. As with other drugs, each individual will react differently to Fluvirin. It's also important to note that there are side effects that may not have been reported to the FDA.
The most common adverse reactions and side effects related to the Fluvirin vaccine are mild hypersensitivity reactions such as mild skin rash, redness, tenderness, or swelling near the point of entry, often occurring soon after the shot is given.[1] Other common side effects, as reflected in clinical trials, include flulike symptoms such as headaches, muscle pains, malaise, back pain, nausea, headache, stuffy nose, sweating, and cough.[2]
Fluvirin Allergic Reactions
Any patient planning to get a Fluvirin vaccine who has experienced Guillain-Barré syndrome within 6 weeks of the planned vaccination should consult a doctor before receiving the vaccine. Any woman who is pregnant or nursing, and anyone taking other medications should speak with a healthcare provider before getting the Fluvirin vaccine. In addition, children under the age of 4 should not receive the Fluvirin vaccine.[3]
Those who take Fluvirin should inform a doctor immediately if they experience hives, itching, breathing difficulties, dizziness, wheezing, swelling of the tongue or mouth, seizures, or vomiting. These reactions may be evidence of a severe allergy to Fluvirin.[2]
Allergic reactions may occur in other patients as well, so anyone planning on getting a Fluvirin vaccine should discuss possible drug interactions and allergic reactions with a healthcare professional.
