About Gabapentin

Gabapentin is a generic drug, and it is sold in the United States under the brand names Neurontin and Gabarone. It is given to patients suffering from epilepsy, and although it can not cure this disease it can help to control partial seizures. However, even if the drug is effective the seizures will return once the patient stops taking it.[3]

Besides seizures, gabapentin is also prescribed to patients suffering from pain due to nervous system disorders. It is also used to treat pain that occurs as a result of shingles (this is called postherpetic neuralgia).[4]
