About Humira
Classified as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor, Humira blocks a substance in the body common to autoimmune disorders that causes TNF inflammation. This type of inflammation is caused by conditions like rheumatoid arthritis (pain, swelling and loss of joint function), ankylosing spondylitis (spine area and other parts of the body, joint pain and damage), psoriatic arthritis (pain, swelling and scales on skin) and Crohn’s disease, in which the body attacks the digestive tract lining causing pain, diarrhea, weight loss and fever.[1]
Common side effects of Humira include irritation or itching at the injection site, stuffy nasal passages, headache, and pain in the back or abdomen. In some cases, Humira can lead to flu or other infections, as it suppresses the immune system.
