About Lupron

Lupron Depot is a brand name for leuprolide injection, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. Lupron is administered as an shot given in regular intervals to help overstimulate production of estrogen or testosterone with the goal of temporarily suspending the body's own manufacturing of these hormones.[4]

Lupron is often administered by a nurse or doctor and may require frequent blood testing to minimize negative side effects.[5] Side effects of Lupron include hot flashes, vaginal discharge, sensitivity in the breasts, swollen, painful or tingling appendages, anxiety, memory problems, exhaustion, and pimple breakouts. More serious side effects, which warrant medical attention, include painful urination, trouble breathing, speech problems, altered vision, pain in the bones, droopy eyelids, confusion and passing out.[1]
