Metadate Coupons
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
Metadate CD, the brand name for methylphenidate hydrochloride, is an expensive drug. 30 capsules of the 10 mg strength pill can cost up to $143.43, so coupons or other savings programs may be critical for some patients who can not afford to pay this amount.[1]
Metadate is a prescription drug used to treat ADHD, or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, in children over the age of six.[2] Metadate can become addictive over time and has potential for abuse. There is also potential for serious cardiac side effects, including heart attacks and sudden death, so patients should be evaluated for undiagnosed cardiac problems before they begin taking the drug. Doctors may also monitor blood pressure and check for any heart problems for the duration of Metadate treatment.[3]

Metadate Patient Assistance Programs and Coupons
- The Metadate website for health care professionals offers a $25 coupon for Metadate purchases, with restrictions for patients who use governmental and some kinds of private health insurance.[6] Physicians can print the coupons from their office to dirstribute to patients. Each patient may only use one coupon, and only one time.[6]
- UCB does have a patient assistance program, but Metadate is not included.[7]
- The NeedyMeds website now issues a card for prescription savings on those drugs not included in their base program. Accepted at thousands of US pharmacies, chains and independent drug stores, the free card can save consumers up to 80% off prescription costs.[8] The cards do not expire, but there are limitations: it can't be combined with insurance or used to lower a copay.[8]
- Pharmacy chains like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens and Walmart have cards or programs to save consumers money on prescriptions. Eligibility varies from company to company.
- The drug Concerta also contains methylphenidate, and is approved for both children and adults. Those willing to use this drug instead of Metadate may be able to get savings through the Johnson & Johnson Patient Assistance Foundation, Inc. Patient Assistance Program, as well as the Together Rx Access discount card program. Both programs are only for those whose insurance does not cover the drug, and income caps apply.[9]
