About Mirapex
Mirapex and Mirapex ER (extended release) are prescription drugs that are used to treat symptoms of Parkinson's disease. They may be used alone or combined with other treatments to help keep the signs of the disease at bay. Mirapex is not a cure for Parkinson's. These drugs have been shown to help sufferers of this illness live their daily lives and conduct their normal activities. Mirapex may be used during any stage of Parkinson's disease.
Common side effects of Mirapex and Mirapex ER include drowsiness, dizziness and nausea. Some patients have been known to fall asleep suddenly while taking Mirapex; this can happen even during regular activities. Mixing Mirapex with alcohol or other medications increases this risk.[2]
Mirapex Patient Assistance Programs and Coupons
Patients can register on the Mirapex ER website and receive savings of up to $40 off their prescription each month for up to 12 months. In addition to the discount, patients may also receive a CD-ROM called Frank's Friends, which offers helpful information to those who suffer from Parkinson's disease. To register, patients will need to fill out a form with basic information as well as answer a few questions about their experience with Parkinson's.[3]
Patients may also be able to obtain coupons or free samples of Mirapex and Mirapex ER from their doctor. Often, drug manufacturers will make samples available so that patients can try their products and decide whether or not to continue treatment once the coupon or sample has been used.
