Namenda Coupons

From Pharmacy Drug Guide

Jump to: navigation, search

Namenda®, the brand name for memantine, is prescribed to slow cognitive decline in people with moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease. Namenda® can cost up to $150 for a 30 day supply.[1] This makes it an expensive drug, particularly for patients who don't have prescription drug coverage. While part of the cost can be covered by Medicare Part D, Namenda® coupons can bring the cost down further. For those who don't have health insurance, the patient assistance program from Forest Pharmaceuticals may be able to help with savings.

About Namenda

Namenda® is Forest Pharmaceuticals' brand name for Memantine HCl. Memantine is a prescription medication which is approved by the FDA to treat the symptoms associated with Alzheimer's such as confusion, shortened attention span, and difficulty recalling short term memory. While Namenda® may improve the ability to perform the activities of daily living, it does not cure or slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease.[2] Studies show that taking Namenda® and Aricept® together will increase the benefits and decrease side effects.[4]

Namenda Patient Assistance Programs and Coupons

  • Namenda® printable coupons may occasionally be available online at third party Internet coupon sites such as PatientAssistance.com.[5]
  • The Forest Pharmaceuticals Patient Assistance Program can provide a three-month supply of Namenda® at no charge. In order to qualify, the patient must be uninsured and meet certain income guidelines.[6][7]
  • Pharmacies and drug stores occasionally offer promotional savings to customers through membership and discount programs, as well as through specific product promotions. These may be able to provide savings on Namenda®. One of these programs is available through Walgreens. The Walgreens Prescription Club costs $20 a year, and entitles patients to discounts on more than 8,000 generic and brand name medications. Additional benefits include 10% of flu shots. There are no health restrictions, medical exams, age limits, or prior authorization required to purchase a card and start saving.[8]
  • Patients may be able to obtain free samples of Namenda® from their doctor. Pharmaceutical companies like Forest often provide doctors with free samples of new and existing medications.
