Nexium Side Effects
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
Nexium, dubbed "The Purple Pill," is the brand name for esomeprazole, which is prescribed to treat long-term heartburn as well as conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Nexium works by reducing excess acid in the stomach. It can also help allow the body to repair any damage to the esophagus that has already occurred from acid exposure. Nexium can also be used by those on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) to reduce the likelihood of getting ulcers.
Potential Nexium side effects include headache, abdominal pain, constipation, and diarrhea. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor, and drugs in this class can cause risk of bone fracture. Other serious side effects are also possible.[1]
