Pfizer patient assistance programs provide prescription assistance to those who do not have prescription drug coverage, offering free or discounted medicines to qualifying individuals. These programs are available through Pfizer Helpful Answers, a family of programs dedicated to helping patients save on their Pfizer medications. [1]

Pfizer patient assistance programs provide free Pfizer medications through doctors and community health organizations, and also provide support directly to patients through reimbursement.[2] Coverage is available for a wide variety of drugs, including Caduet, Celebrex, Chantix, Depo-Provera, Flagyl, Zoloft, Viagra, Norvasc, Pristiq and many others.[3]

About Pfizer Patient Assistance Programs

Pfizer, Inc. offers eight different patient assistance programs through Pfizer Helpful Answers. These programs provide free or discounted medicines to qualified patients, including the uninsured and the unemployed.[2]

Regardless of the program, all patients must live in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other qualifications that are examined for specific programs include insurance, income, and current employment situation. Most free medication programs are only available to those without insurance that also meet the income guidelines for the Federal Poverty Level. Main programs include:[2]

  • Connection to Care: Open to patients with no insurance (or those eligible for hardship assistance) who earn up to $21,660 for singles, up to $51,580 for a family of five, and a sliding scale for other family sizes.
  • Pfizer Maintain: Open to the unemployed and uninsured who have lost their jobs as of January 1, 2009 or later.
  • Pfizer Pfriends: A drug savings card available for patients with no prescription drug coverage.
  • RSVP: The Reimbursement Solutions, Verification, and Payment HELPline, which reimburses patients who can't afford their coinsurance payments or those who have been denied drug coverage.
  • First Resource: Support with reimbursement and patient assistance for oncology medications for cancer patients.

The official Pfizer website offers more detailed information on individual programs. Patients can also download a patient assistance application there, which must be filled out by both the patient and their doctor before submitting it back to Pfizer. Patients who do not want to download the application can have it faxed or sent by standard mail. Requests can be made by calling 866-706-2400.[6]
