Pristiq Side Effects
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
Pristiq is the brand name for the prescription medication desvenlafaxine, which is an antidepressant approved by the FDA for the treatment of major depressive disorder in adults. Major depressive disorder, also referred to as clinical depression, is a mood disorder that lasts for two weeks or longer and causes sufferers to feel sad or empty inside and to lose interest in activities that they once enjoyed. Pristiq works to treat major depressive disorder in adults by elevating levels of two separate neurotransmitters in the brain: serotonin and norepinephrine.[1]
Manufactured by Pfizer, Inc., Pristiq is classified as a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, or SNRI, and is typically administered once daily as an extended-release tablet. As with many medications, Pristiq may cause side effects in some individuals. Some common side effects may include dry mouth, constipation, fatigue, and lack of appetite.[2]
