Quick Trim
From Pharmacy Drug Guide
Quicktrim is a line of diet pills endorsed by three Kardashian sisters, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe. There are several products in the Quicktrim line, including Quicktrim Burn and Cleanse, Quicktrim Extreme Burn, and Fast Cleanse. The manufacturer claims that the "burn" products can boost the metabolism and that the "cleanse" products can detoxify internal organs.[1]
Quicktrim products have not been approved by the FDA. This means that the safety and effectiveness of the products are largely unknown. The only FDA-approved over-the-counter weight loss pill is Alli.
The makers of Quicktrim note that users will need to watch food intake and get exercise in order to fully benefit from their products. It will also be necessary to maintain these habits in order to keep the weight off. The makers also advise that only healthy individuals use Quicktrim, and that a doctor be consulted before use.[2]

About Quicktrim
Quicktrim products tend to have relatively long lists of ingredients. For example, the Quicktrim Extreme Burn pills have three proprietary blends, each with multiple ingredients. These include the QT Capsimax™ Super Thermo Complex, Super C3G Lypolytic Complex, and Total Omega-5 Fatty Acids. The amount of each active ingredient in these blends is not known. Caffeine is near the top of the ingredients list, so it is likely a main component in these pills. The manufacturer recommends that users do not take any other stimulants while using Extreme Burn.[4]
Other Quicktrim products include:[1]
- Quicktrim Burn and Cleanse
- Quicktrim Fast Cleanse
- Quicktrim Fast Shake
- Quicktrim Hotstix
- Sugar & Carb Cheater
- Celluslim
Quicktrim Effectiveness and Safety
Quicktrim products have not been tested by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[1] In general, the FDA treats over-the-counter diet pills like Quicktrim as nutritional supplements rather than drugs, even though they are used for the same purpose as some prescriptions. Thus, nonprescription diet pills do not need to be tested to support the claims of manufacturers. In some cases, diet pills are unsafe to take.[5]
Although Quicktrim does not disclose the amounts of the ingredients in its proprietary blends, caffeine appears high on the list of ingredients in the fat burning products. Caffeine can be harmful, especially when consumed in high doses. It can cause nervousness, insomnia and nausea, as well as rapid heart rate and breathing. Taking too much may cause chest pain and anxiety.[6]
Quicktrim Abuse
Quicktrim abuse can occur when users who are not overweight take it, when it is taken for reasons other than its intended use, or when more than the recommended dosage is consumed. In addition, caffeine is known to cause dependency. The dangers of diet pills like Quicktrim can be similar to the dangers of cocaine, methamphetamine, and other stimulants. In addition, it is unhealthy to lose large amounts of weight in a short period of time.[7]
Drug Side Effects
Colon Cleansing
Colon cleansers such as Quicktrim Burn and Cleanse and Quicktrim Fast Cleanse are controversial in the medical community, as physicians question their rewards and safety. An August, 2011 article in The Journal of Family Practice medical publication reported that evidence suggests no benefit from cleansing, and that some cleansing procedures may be harmful. Colon flushes as well as pills, powders and other supplements were tested in 20 studies, and findings indicated numerous side effects like cramping, bloating, nausea and even severe kidney problems with little positive outcome.[8]
