Simponi

Simponi (golimumab) is a prescription drug administered by self-injection each month to reduce pain and swelling caused by certain types of arthritis, like rheumatoid arthritis, active psoriatic arthritis (alone or with methotrexate), and active ankylosing spondylitis. It is the first medication of its kind for self-injection. Simponi blocks tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in the body's immune system and prevents it from causing joint swelling. By reducing swelling, further joint damage can be reduced and function preserved. Depending on the type of arthritis being treated, Simponi may be used alone or in conjunction with methotrexate.[1]

Common side effects of Simponi are irritation or skin reaction at the injection point, viral infection, and infection of the upper respiratory tract.[1]

This occurs when they are taken for reasons other than their intended use, or are consumed without a prescription. Prescription drug abuse is a growing problem in the United States, and can cause severe damage to the health.[4]
