SlimQuick is a line of diet pills manufactured by SlimQuick Laboratories. The company describes the product as a "fat burner," and claims that the formula is customized to help women reach their weight loss goals. According to package labeling, Slimquick can help dieters lose 25 pounds. However, these claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Slimquick claims that their diet pills were proven effective in a clinical study. According to their research, women who used an unspecified ingredient in Slimquick and restricted their diets to 1,300 calories daily lost triple the weight of those who consumed 1,300 calories daily but did not take this ingredient. The average weight loss for Slimquick users was 25 pounds in 13 weeks. The company does not disclose who conducted the research, the amount of the mystery ingredient used, or the amount of the ingredient that they use in their products.[1]

About SlimQuick

SlimQuick makes several products. Although each of them is somewhat different than the rest, they all have some identical ingredients and claim to help women reach their weight loss goals. SlimQuick Fat Burner, SlimQuick Mixed Berries, SlimQuick Caffeine Free, and SlimQuick Razor are the four products in the SlimQuick line. All SlimQuick products contain green tea extract, and all but the caffeine-free version list caffeine as a primary ingredient.

SlimQuick diet pills and drink mixes contain proprietary blends of ingredients with titles such as Slimquick 6 Ways Weight Loss Complex. This makes it impossible to determine how much of each ingredient is in SlimQuick products.[2]

SlimQuick Effectiveness

SlimQuick products contain over a dozen ingredients, and most are in proprietary blends so it is uncertain how much of each active ingredient is included in a serving size. However, green tea extract is at the top of the ingredient list of all SlimQuick blends, so it may be assumed that there is a relatively substantial amount of this substance. Green tea has been shown to boost the metabolism, and drinking 2 to 4 cups per day can help burn an extra 50 calories. However, the quality and amount of green tea in SlimQuick remain a mystery, and the other ingredients may not be safe or effective.[3]

Over-the-counter diet pills are not tested for effectiveness or safety by the FDA. They are often ineffective and sometimes harmful to overall health.[4]

SlimQuick Ingredients

Each SlimQuick product contains a different assortment of ingredients. The active ingredients in SlimQuick Fat Burner, which is the company's basic diet pill, include a vitamin blend of vitamins D, K, B6 and B12, folate and calcium; as well as the SlimQuick 6 Ways Complex with green tea extract, caffeine, green tea phytosome, rhodiola extract, chaste tree extract, soy extract, brown seaweed, uva-ursi, Japanese knotweed extract, phytosterols, and L-theanine. The product label denotes the amount of each vitamin as well as the daily value, but does not state how much of each ingredient in the proprietary complex is present. Slimquick claims that a "key ingredient" in SlimQuick was shown to triple weight loss results in a clinical trial, but fails to disclose which ingredient this is or how much of it is in the product.[5]

SlimQuick Abuse

Weight loss supplements like SlimQuick may be abused when used for purposes other than weight control, or when they are overused. While diet pills are not as addictive as amphetamines, methamphetamines, or opiates, they contain stimulant ingredients such as caffeine that can cause users to become dependent. Over-the-counter diet pills like SlimQuick may cause problems with blood pressure, heart rate or sleep patterns.[6]
