Eligible patients can receive free Synthroid through this program, and may download an application from the foundation's official website. Both the patient and his or her doctor must fill out the application before sending it back by fax or standard mail. Applications can be faxed to 866-898-1473, or mailed to Abbott Patient Assistance Foundation, P.O. Box 270, Somerville, NJ 08876. For additional information on the program and application, call 800-222-6885. Eligibility will be examined on a case-by-case basis, but general requirements are that a patient not have prescription drug insurance, and that they meet income guidelines based on the federal poverty level.[1]
Patients who do not qualify for the Abbott assistance program can still save money through the Synthroid True Balance Program. Patients can register on the Synthroid website to receive coupons, refill reminders and tips for living with hyperthyroidism.[4]
